Computer and office work

Some years ago, the office was a place where there were more people. Today, offices are full of machines; Photocopy machines, fax machines, computers.
A manager of a big computer company thinks that machines work better than people. “In offices, many of the secretaries and receptionists were very lazy”, he said. They took long breaks and left work early. But machines are hardworking. They don’t take breaks and they never go home.
His company makes robots: machines that look like people. These machines do all the work in the office. The manager tells the machines what to do, and they do it. It’s fantastic! But machines are still very expensive. Many companies cannot buy them. For this reason, people will not lose their jobs in the near future.
