Exercise n°2: Put the following sentences into the passive voice:

  • They showed her the easiest way to do it.

Exercise n°3: Put the following verbs into the gerund.


  • He gave up (gamble)
  • Try to avoid (make) him angry.
  • Stop (argue) and start (work)
  • I am against (make) any complaints.
  • It’s no use (cry) over spilt milk.

Exercise n°4: “Time clause sentences”. Put the verbs in brackets into the correct tense (present or future).

1. I (go) on doing it until he tells me to stop.
2. I ‘ll buy that house when I (have) enough money.
3. You (fall) rapidly through the air till your parachute opens.
4. When the fog (lift) we’ll be able to see where we are.
5. The refrigerator (continue) to make that noise till we have it repaired.


Exercise n°5 :Put the following sentences into :”a «the negative-“b”the interrogative-“c” the 3rd person of singular:

  • You are six feet tall.
  • We are seeing Mary tomorrow.
  • They can play the harp.

Exercise n°7:Answer the following questions
