Dear Colleagues,
Due to your great work and titanic efforts, OVELT is getting more and more effectual .We do thank you and may every letter you typed be rewarded.
OVELT is a forum that is meant to be professional .It represents teachers, learners, pedagogues and educators .Thus, we should preserve that image of these social instructors .
Each situation has its specific register .Our learning-teaching situation needs an academic-scientific register.Let us avoid the words or expressions that are informal. Let us use a more academic discourse.
Words such as “thank s ” (and other similar informal expressions) should be avoided .That’s why , the administration of OVELT has replaced it with “()()( )”.
I wish you got what the idea is .
With all my due respect.
Cordially,
NOR.

It's what I noticed and could say nothing.
Teachers ARE TO use a more formal language that honours the postion they hold.
We are on the net and have to represent who we are. Can't we?
Everything is free and needs no effort to go through the forum content. Let's be the ones we are expected to be.

Sure, we are teachers and we must be the people we are. It's good to be teacher and perfect to be ideal. The language that we use is the sign of our level. This is why we must care of it. I never use expressions like thankkkkkkkkksss or any of the language a beginner uses. With all my respect to all the colleagues. Thank you

Your remark has come on time , because I personally noticed that some occasional members use a language next to any ordinary person.
As Mr. Red1 said, we are teachers and have to improve our language that shows who we are. Not to belittle others' language but to distinguish private from professional life... I mean, English used at work (professional) is more formal than English used in chat (private). How to know a teacher then? It's up to us to build up or at least reformulate the image that is to be .

I do absolutely agree with you dears , OVELT is meant to be a professional spot with only academic language, so let's preserve it the way it was meant to be. Nevertheless, English is a living creature, thus growing I wouldn't say everyday but surely every hour , so we have to do our best on the other side to get informed and learn what is new in the language of every situation.

I can't agree more than my colleagues on this point. OVELTers have to try to be more academic in their replies. It's what I see. Thank you , Mrs. NOR. Your ideas are always fruitful that your aim is never misunderstood. Mr. solinet, too.

Mr. Boucherit, do you mean that it is a duty and not a conviction?

Who dares discussing Mr. Boucherit's English use and level? If you read the thread and replied , it means that you are among those who oppose informal address between colleagues... a thing that is rarely found .
