The Algeria national football team, (Fennecs= The Desert Foxes), is the national
team of Algeria. In November 2009, Algeria managed to beat North African rivals Egypt in a World Cup qualification tiebreaker to secure a place at the 2010 World
Cup in South Africa.

Algeria put on a mixed performance in the African Cup of Nations 2010in Angola. The national team was in Group A, with Angola, Malawi and Mali, Algeria lost 3-0 against Malawi, in a very bad weather conditions. If any team plays in such situations, it will not perform well. The team improved in the following game against Mali, beating them 1-0 ()()() to a Rafik Halliche header. In the last match, they bdrew 0-0 with Angola, which sent them to the second round. Playing in Cabinda, Algeria faced Côte d'Ivoire in the quarterfinals, and got a historic win 3-2. Their opposition in the semi-final was their bitter rivals, Egypt, in their first meeting since their World Cup qualification play-off. Algeria lost the match because the referee was not fair and sent three of the Algerian players out with red cards. The Algerians learnt when they play; they will have to take into account not only the adversary team but also the referee. Algeria finished the African Cup of nations 2010 in the fourth place.
