Hand.
Definition: The (prehensile) extremity of the superior limb.
Uses: Would you like me to give you a hand (help) with your luggage as it looks rather heavy?
It's customary in many countries for people to shake you by the hand (hold your hand firmly) when they first meet you.
It's easy to see who has the upper hand (is the boss) in that family.
As soon as the government tries to have a hand (get involved) in the scheme, you know that there's going to be a lot of paperwork.
They decided to wash their hands of (have no more to do with) the whole scheme when they discovered it was dishonest.
Variations: I find that tool very handy (useful) whenever I have to get a cork out of a bottle.
There were only a handful (not many) of people that joined the protest march on Sunday.
