Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii, on August 4, 1961. His father, also called Barack Obama was a black man from Kenya, and his mother Ann Dunham, a white woman, from Kansas.
When Barack was a little boy, his parents got divorced. His mom moved to Indonesia. When he was 10 years old, his family moved back to Hawaii, and lived with his grandparents. His father was killed in a car accident in 1982, and his mother died of cancer in 1995.
He became a lawyer in 1991. He met Michelle Obama in Chicago and they got married in 1992. They had two children. Malia Ann was born in 1998.Natasha was born in 2001. Barack Obama worked hard for his community and helped a lot of people. He travelled to many countries. He became a senator for Illinois in 2005.
He was elected the 44th President of the United States on November 4 , 2008 because the people decided that Barack Obama was the best person to be president . He is the first African-American to hold this office. Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize in October 2009. He won for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.
