LYCEE TASSAFT AKBIL THIRD TERM ENGLISH EXAM 2AS LE LPHFull name: Romeo and Juliet is a tale written by Shakespeare. It is about two rich families of Verona: the Montague’s and the Capulet’s. But an old quarrel between these two families led to a deadly enmity which was extended even to their children. One day, old Lord Capulet made a great supper to which many fair ladies and many noble guests were invited. To this feast of Capulet’s, Romeo Montague went masked. All the beauties of Verona were present but the young man was struck with the exceeding beauty of a lady who danced there. Among all those beautiful ladies, Juliet Capulet emerged as a snowy dove trooping with crows. Romeo danced with Juliet and it was love at first sight from both of them. Every night Romeo leapt the wall of Juliet’s house to see his beloved, who waited above the window to hear her lover’s passionate discourse and romantic poetry. They were so enamoured of each other, so they consented to marry but stressed the need for absolute secrecy about the matter as they were conscious of their families’ opposition. After many sweet days spent with her lover, Lord Capulet proposed a suitor for his daughter, the Count of Paris.Unfortunately, the story ended tragically as both lovers died. To flee the marriage proposed by her father, Juliet took a poison which would make her asleep for a long time. When Romeo heard that his young wife was dead, he came near her, kissed her and swallowed a mortal poison. Once the effect of the poison had expired, Juliet awoke and to her surprise found her lover dead. She quickly took a knife and killed herself. How many paragraphs are there in the
