Grammar Nazi 05-grammar-nazi

A Grammar Nazi is a person who is over-zealous about searching out, pointing

out,and correcting grammatical errors in other people's speech and

writing. He cannot resist the urge to correct a spelling and/or grammar mistake

even in informal settings. After pointing out the linguistic shortcomings in

others, He uses proper grammar at all times, esp. online in emails, chatrooms,

instant messages and webboard posts; a proponent of grammatical correctness.

Often one who spells correctly as well.

In reality,While proper grammar usage is all well and good, a Grammar

Nazi makes others feel bad for no reason and unintentionally implying that he

has "superior" grammar skills.

Still, one should strive to spell and use words properly, but arrogant and

unsolicited advice is not a very persuasive way to teach English.

A Grammar Nationalist :

A type of Grammar Nazi who is particular to using the British/Canadian way of

spelling words as opposed to the American spellings. Words such as "favorite" or

"color" especially annoy the Grammar Nationalist.
